Rushwise Academy · Part 4 of 13 · Categories

Organize your video projects by type of work

Sort your editing work into categories like weddings, company films and events. Each category gives a new project its own folder structure and its own delivery time, and you can rename, remove or change them any time. Part 4 of the Rushwise Academy, the series about the app for Davinci Resolve editors.

What a category is

A category is a kind of work, like weddings, company films or events. It decides two things for every new project: its folder structure, and its deadline. Each category gets its own colour, so you recognise it everywhere in the app.

A new category

To make one, open Settings, and under Categories, click Add category. Give it a name, and choose its folder structure, the one you made in part three. Click Add, and there it is.

Its delivery time

Next to it, you set the delivery time: a number of days, weeks or months after the shoot. Change it, and the deadlines of its projects move along with it. Projects with a deadline of their own stay where they are.

Rename or remove

Here you can also give a category another structure, or rename it. And when you remove a category, its projects simply become uncategorized. Nothing is deleted.

In the sidebar

Your categories also sit in the sidebar, each with the number of open projects. Click one to see only that work, just like in part two.

A project's category

Want to move a project to another category? Open it, click the three dots, and choose Change category. Pick the new one, and click Save. A new project gets its category right away, in the first step of New project.
