Rushwise Academy · Part 10 of 13 · Work steps

A video editing checklist that ticks itself

Make your own list of work steps for every kind of editing project, from copying the cards to delivering the film. Some steps tick themselves, after Add media, a backup, Davinci Resolve or a file in your Exports folder. Part 10 of the Rushwise Academy, the series about the app for Davinci Resolve editors.

Premieres on Wed 4 Nov

What work steps are

Work steps are the list you follow for every project, from copying the cards to delivering the film. You see them on every project page, with a bar at the top that shows how far you are.

One list per structure

You make the list once, in the folder structure, on the Work steps tab. So a wedding can have other steps than a company film.

A new step

Click Step, give it a name, for example Sound mix, and choose whether it ticks itself.

Steps that tick themselves

A step can tick itself: after Add media, after a backup, after Put into Davinci, after Make timelines, or as soon as there's a file in a folder, like your Exports folder. Choose No, and you tick it yourself.

Order and more

Drag a step to change the order. With the three dots, you edit a step or remove it. Then click Save.

Running projects

New projects get these steps. Projects that are already running keep their own list, so nothing changes under your hands.

On the project page

On the project page, you tick a step when it's done. The bar moves along, and now jumps to the next step. Steps that ticked themselves say automatic. And at the bottom, you add a task for this project only, like a trailer for Instagram.

In the overview

And in the overview, every project shows its bar and the step it's on, so you see at a glance where everything stands.
